Cinder the Fox

PERSONALITY
Cinder is a very reserved and quiet individual, preferring to interact with as few people as possible, finding them too complicated to deal with. She's also perfectly content doing her own thing. Under this guarded exterior is a very excitable fox who enjoys exploring, science, and food. She can become talkative when she feels comfortable with someone or the right subject is brought up (Mystic Ruins, chao, etc.) She will also jump to action with little thought to her own safety if she sees someone in trouble. She can’t help but intervene, even though revealing the powers granted by her Flame Ring usually brings her trouble.Cinder exhibits many of the same feral tendencies as Sticks the Badger, however she is better at suppressing them in public. This and her Flame Ring have resulted in mistreatment and mistrust from others.

ABILITIES
Cinder's Flame Ring grants her the ability to generate fire to spice up melee attacks but she cannot control it like Blaze nor is she fireproof. Kinetic energy has to be involved to spark the flame (such as Sonic and Shadow's somersault), which can be punches, kicks, finger snaps, etc. The greater the kinetic energy, the larger the burst of flame.Cinder has a smart watch that, in addition to normal smart watch functions, can summon various shields such as the flame shield. This can be done in the Shield App menu or by voice command. The Shields are limited by the watch's battery life.Her vulpine nature gives her agility, quick reflexes, high jump, stealth, enhanced senses, night vision, and semi-retractable claws. She can also hear and sense electricity.

WEAKNESSES
Cinder is extremely sensitive to chaos energy and a small amount can quickly overload her system like a caffeine overdose, so she must be careful when handling chaos emeralds, chaos drives, or other sources of chaos energy. This also makes her extra vulnerable to chaos energy based attacks.If Cinder were to enter a super state, she would be frenzied and erratic from the overload of chaos energy. She would also be extremely exhausted afterward like a caffeine crash.She is also weak to the cold to the point where it will significantly slow her down and make her want to sleep.She has lower stamina, resulting in a hit-fast-and-hit-hard fighting style, but she will stubbornly keep going even when she's out of energy, to her detriment.Having enhanced senses, her eyes are sensitive to bright light, her ears are sensitive to loud and high pitch noises, her nose is sensitive to strong smells, and her nerves are sensitive to touch. This can result in her becoming overwhelmed easily.

HISTORY
Cinder grew up in Emeraldville.Adventure
Cinder was on vacation in Station Square. When Angel Island crashed into the Mystic Ruins, Cinder went to explore. She found her Flame Ring while exploring the Mystic Ruins.Adventure 2
Cinder witnessed Super Sonic and Super Shadow fight the Bio Hazard via a telescope on top of her roof.Sonic Heroes
In the fallout of Neo Metal Sonic's rebellion, Cinder found a damaged Shadow Android and attacked it on sight. Using her wits and the fact that it was already damaged, Cinder bested the android. Just before finishing it off, she noticed a pronounced fear response that the other Shadow Androids hadn't exhibited, instead deciding to spare him. Cinder took the android home and repaired him the best she could, naming him Mirage. As he had no where else to go, the android stayed with Cinder.Shadow the Hedgehog
When the Black Arms invaded, Cinder fought against them using her Flame Ring but also with their own weapons that she commandeered. Mirage accompanied her but had to be careful not to be mistaken for Shadow or the other Shadow Androids still working for Dr. Eggman.
In the aftermath of Black Doom's defeat, Cinder found a Black Wing still alive under some rubble. It had a head injury which had disconnected it from the hivemind, preventing its death upon Doom's demise. As it wasn't aggressive, Cinder brought it home with her, naming it Talon despite not actually having any.Unleashed
When the planet split apart, Cinder initially went about her business as there was nothing she could do about it and she was tired of dealing with world-ending events by this time. When Dark Gaia's minions reared their head, she and Mirage went to fight them.
Talon got loose one night and was attacked by Dark Gaia minions. By the time Cinder and Mirage got to him, it was already too late. In a rage, Cinder defeated the remaining minions in the area.Forces
Cinder joined the Resistance as soon as she heard that Sonic had been captured.Fallout (1-4)
Cinder returned home with Quartz and cleared out leftover Badniks in Orchardville.

BEHIND THE SCENES
Cinder's first iteration came into being around the early 2000s as a Sally Acorn recolor but a silver fox because I had thought Sally to be a fox at the time because of her father's tail. She had the simple ability of a really strong tail that she could use to lift things or hold herself up in the air like a cartoon kangaroo. I am uncertain how long this iteration lasted as I have zero artwork from the time but I do not think it was long.The next iteration was probably created around 2002-2003 since that's when Sonic Adventure 2: Battle came out, my technically first Sonic game. Her design was now an orange fox and much more inspired by Tails' design, even having two tails for a short time (her hair was still very Sally-like tho). The oldest art I have of her is from about 2006 so I don't know if there were other changes. Her ability this time was pyrokinesis, the source of her power varying between a small red gemstone she wore around her neck and falling into a vat of phazon. No, I don't know why I didn't think of the Flame Ring back then or why I decided the Metroid universe was canon to the Sonic universe. Middle school, am I right?She would later evolve during high school into a fandomless OC with her design based on the Star Fox style. This is when I went really crazy with worldbuilding and basically created furry BIONICLE. She would see less and less use as I shifted focus to another OC and building my own franchise, using her almost exclusively as just a mascot.This would change in 2017 with Sonic Forces. A new Sonic game and one with a custom character creator no less inspired me to bring her back. This was also when she first gained the name Cinder rather than just having my name. Cinder not only relates to the fire powers she would keep but also came from the fact that my grandpa offered my parents $1,000 to name me Cinderella, which they declined; my grandpa was ill and died that year so it was my way of a little tribute. This initial redesign would lean heavily into the Avatar options but would still be an orange fox with brown hair. Another redesign mostly changing the clothes (see OUTDATED below) would last thru 2019.2020 was when I would overhaul her again, initially with long hair. Most other changes would simply be in her outfit. Since then, the only real changes have been adjustments to how certain details are drawn based on the official Sonic style and my tastes (like making her hands and feet smaller compared to official Sonic style). Her default outfit went through minor changes.

DESCRIPTION
Quartz is a very lazy chao, sleeping often, especially in Cinder's hood. Conversely, Quartz is also highly competitive in chao races and karate, despite being rescued by Cinder from an illegal back alley chao fighting ring.

DESCRIPTION
??? is a robot built by Eggman from extra and spare parts to test modifications for Metal Sonic. He was left in Eggman's Mystic Ruins Jungle base (Final Egg) as a guard and promptly forgotten about. When Cinder entered the base after spotting a red echidna--and quickly loosing track of him--she fought and defeated him with the power of the Flame Ring she found in the jungle.

ABILITIES
??? has typical robotic strength and multiple vision modes including x-ray and thermal. His sharp metal claws can rip through metal.

DESCRIPTION
Mochi is a sweet, energetic girl.

ABILITIES
As a rabbit, Mochi is very fast and has excellent hearing.

WEAKNESSES
Rabbit legs are so powerful that they must be careful when using them with great force because they can accidentally break their backs.

Mirage the Shadow Android

DESCRIPTION
Mirage is a "defective" Shadow Android who developed a little too much personality. He was found by Cinder in the fallout of Neo Metal Sonic's rebellion, who attacked him on sight. The android lost to her wits and already being damaged before the fight. Cinder was about to finish him off when she noticed a pronounced fear response that the other Shadow Androids hadn't exhibited. Instead, she took him home and repaired him the best she could, dubbing him Mirage. With nowhere else to go, the android stayed with her.

ABILITIES
Mirage has all the same abilities as any other Shadow Android.

WEAKNESSES
As Mirage is missing one of his original feet, and therefore air shoes, he cannot skate like Shadow and so cannot achieve the same speed.

DESCRIPTION
Rime is cold, calculating, and manipulative. She sees people only as tools to further her goal.ABILITIES
Rime has a Frost Gem attached to each glove, which allows her to generate frost to freeze her opponent. She's an excellent climber and very aerobatic.WEAKNESSES
The heat affects her abilities and slows her down. Moisture is required for her abilities to function so she is severely disadvantaged in the desert.HISTORY
Rime joined the Eggman Empire, believing in his goal of bringing order through force. She clashed with Cinder and her squad several time.

Seabolt the Torpedo

DESCRIPTION
Seabolt is lazy but likes to get into fights for fun.
ABILITIES
Seabolt can generate electricity via a specialized organ. He wears gloves and shoes with rubber to avoid shocking people or objects he touches or walks on; the backs of these gloves and shoes are cloth so that he can shock with punches and kicks.
He is also an excellent swimmer.
WEAKNESSES
Temperatures below 59 °F inhibit his electrogenesis.

Veil the Hawkling

DESCRIPTION
Veil was a mere larva during the Black Arms invasion that managed to survive G.U.N. clearing out the stragglers.Much like the Black Wings, he has strong curiosity that often lands him in trouble, especially since he doesn't realize his appearance scares people. Growing up without the hive, he isn't fully aware of what he is except different.
ABILITIES
Possessing wings, Veil is able to fly, and he can steer well with the use of his long tail. He can also fire blue energy waves.
WEAKNESSES
Veil is super naive and, therefore, easily tricked.

Black Abyss

DESCRIPTION
Black Abyss is a special-made Black Arms soldier like Black Bull, being the only one of his type. He was meant to manage Earth while Black Doom moved onto conquering other planets, but was still still maturing in Glyphic Canyon and not yet ready to see active duty during the invasion.
Through the hive-mind, he was aware of his brothers' deaths and Doom's defeat. Without Doom's mind-control brainwashing him, Abyss grew to despise him. He blamed his brothers' deaths on Doom rather than the humans or Shadow. He also considers himself abandoned by Doom.Abyss has also grown to despise what he is and view himself as the people of Earth would view him: a monster.
ABILITIES
Black Abyss has several of Black Doom's abilities, including levitation, energy projection, intangibility, illusion projection, sensing energies, and chaos control. He is, however, not nearly as powerful because of his much younger age.

Abyss had to dodge G.U.N. soldiers after awakening in Glyphic Canyon.

Dr. Darkfield

DESCRIPTION
Dr. Darkfield is an accomplished geneticist and an absolutely mad scientist. Unlike other mad scientists like Eggman and Starline, Darkfield is interested in practicing mad science for the sake of it rather than pursuing a goal of world domination. He will, however, talk about conquering the world as he is dedicated to the bit, but won't actually make an effort. This, though, does not mean his experiments don't cause harm.
ABILITIES
Darkfield has an incredible understanding of genetics, able to manipulate them to get desired results. From the Black Arms DNA he spliced himself with from Black Bull, he access the Black Arm's hive-mind and control his Black Arms clones.
WEAKNESSES
His body is of average ability and so cannot go toe-to-toe with any of the more powerful beings, relying on his Black Arms minions for protection. He also lacks foresight to realize the harm his experiments cause.
HISTORY
When the Black Arms invaded, Darkfield was instantly enamored, having spoken endlessly to his colleagues about the presence of aliens in Earth's history. After Shadow defeated Black Bull in Westopolis, Darkfield secretly collected samples of the beast as well as the Black Wings and Black Warriors.He spliced himself with Black Bull's DNA, which gave him his eye color and red accents. He cloned his own Black Warriors to use as slaves as "it's so hard to find good help these days", calling them his pets. He also created Veil from the Black Wing and Black Warrior DNA, mixing in a little bird DNA to achieve his different shape.

Iveryte the Dark Arm

DESCRIPTION
Iveryte is a Dark Arm, a genetically fixed sub-breed of the Black Arms created by Eclipse the Darkling.
ABILITIES
Iveryte can fly and can bestow the Dark Arm power of Lightning Whip, turning the end of Eclipse's tail into an ivory-colored lightning bolt shape and giving it the ability to generate electricity.
